Who can serve as ushers?

Any active adult parishioner in communion with the Church. You are the first face people see when they come into the church. You are the person new people will approach if they have questions.

Purpose:

  1. Welcome parishioner and visitors to the parish.
  2. To assist individuals in finding a seat.
  3. Take up collection.
  4. Assist at communion time.
  5. Assist anyone who is sick during Mass.

Preparation:

Arrive at church 15 minutes before Mass begins. Stand at door to greet.

Before & During Mass:

Assist in seating parishioners. Out of respect for the Liturgy, please do not seat parishioners during the readings.
You may seat them before and after the reading. Please inform them why they are being asked to wait.
Take up the collection and assist with communion.

Conclusion of Mass:

The doors are opened when the priest or deacon says “The Mass is ended.” You should pass out bulletins at the end of Mass not before.
